A trip to the dentist for a routine cleaning may very well have saved the life of an 11 year old girl. During her visit, the hygienist noticed that one of the girl’s eyes appeared yellow. She notified the doctor who examined the girl and referred her to a physician for further tests.
The child underwent a 9 hour surgery to remove a grapefruit size tumor. Surgeons had to remove a portion of her pancreas, stomach, gall bladder and intestine. The family is awaiting test results to determine more about the tumor.
